Why this tool
Honest, Google-powered, actually useful.
Most "free audit" tools are dressed-up lead forms. Ours is the real thing — we call Google's PageSpeed Insights API directly and show you the results, whether you give us your email or not.
Real Google scores
Powered by the Google PageSpeed Insights engine your own tech team would use, plus our own layered SEO and security checks on top. No made-up ratings.
Far more than a speed test
We also check security headers, structured data, robots.txt, sitemap.xml, on-page SEO fundamentals, image alt coverage, word counts, and more.
Mobile-first, as Google does it
Audits your site on a mobile device with a throttled connection — the way most of your visitors actually arrive, and the way Google scores it for ranking.
Prioritised, honest findings
We surface what will move your scores and ignore the noise. High/medium/low impact labels tell you exactly where to start.
Coverage
What the audit actually inspects.
The tool is deliberately opinionated: it highlights fixes that usually correlate with better rankings or conversions for UK SME sites. For a written methodology that complements the scores, read our 2026 SEO starter plan for small businesses or browse how we run retainers in-house.
Performance & Core Web Vitals
Largest Contentful Paint, Interaction to Next Paint and Cumulative Layout Shift from Google’s mobile lab data — plus server response and image delivery hints where we can infer them from the public response.
On-page SEO fundamentals
Title tag length and duplication risk, meta description presence, single H1 detection, thin word-count warnings on key templates, and basic internal link reachability signals.
Security & transport
HTTPS usage, mixed-content warnings where visible, and a pass/fail view on common security headers (content security policy, strict transport security, X-frame-options) interpreted for a typical marketing site.
Structured data & crawl hints
JSON-LD block counts, robots.txt reachability, XML sitemap detection, and sanity checks that help you spot accidental noindex patterns on staging hosts.
Common questions about the audit.
Does the audit replace an agency SEO retainer?
No. It is a fast orientation layer — excellent for prioritising fixes and briefing a developer. A retainer still matters for keyword strategy, content, outreach and monthly Search Console interpretation.
Will you see my passwords or CMS?
No. We only request a public URL. Anything behind a login, a staging basic-auth wall, or an IP allowlist cannot be audited until you expose a reachable URL or share exports manually.
How often should I rerun it?
After any major template change, before a product launch, or monthly if you are actively fixing technical debt. Pair reruns with the checklist PDF so humans verify what robots cannot judge.
What if my scores are already green?
Great — shift attention to conversion copy, structured data accuracy, and query-level performance in Search Console. Green lab scores do not guarantee rankings; they remove a common penalty vector.
